Workbook Guide “First Steps in Belarusian”

The project involved the creation of a workbook guide for Belarusian children aged 6+ aimed at learning and preserving their native language while living abroad.

In any country, educational stores offer a wide range of materials that help preschool and early school-age children learn their native language through play. In comparison, the market for Belarusian-language educational materials remains limited. Given the relatively small target audience, publishing such resources is particularly valuable for publishers.

“As the author of this workbook, I am very grateful for the support of my project through the Track 2 mini-grants. This support made it possible to collaborate with a professional illustrator and designer, as well as to publish the workbook with the well-known Gutenberg publishing house. The result will be a workbook with engaging tasks and high-quality illustrations a tool that helps parents and educators inspire children to learn their native language with interest, so that their hands and hearts are naturally drawn to learning,” — Teacher Hanna Plashchynskaya.

Thanks to partnerships with the Belarusian Language Society named after Francišak Skaryna and the association “AB-BA,” the workbook is expected to be distributed to Belarusian-language schools in Podlasie, Sunday schools in Poland, and Belarusian-speaking families across different European countries.
