As part of the project, educational activities led by repressed teachers were supported.
This project focuses on preserving national identity in exile not only on special occasions, but through consistent, weekly practice via education and shared activities. Children take part in classes on their native language and literature, the history of Belarus, as well as creative workshops, traditional puppet theatre (batlejka), folk songs, dances, and games, alongside participation in seasonal rituals and cultural traditions.
The project is implemented in Warsaw and Gdańsk from November 2025 to May 2026.
Background
The Belarusian School in Warsaw has been operating since 2022 as an online and offline educational space for children who relocated to Poland and other countries following the crisis in Belarus. Today, many of its branches have evolved into independent schools, while the initiative continues to support Belarusian children worldwide, helping them preserve their language, cultural context, and the ability to reconnect with their country without gaps in knowledge when it becomes possible.
